Weekly Link Round-Up #29

Got great news at work this week: a redesigned site that was supposed to launch on the 6th, is now getting pushed back to the 13th. Maybe I will have time in the coming week to take a few minutes to not feel stressed out and rushed. So in my limited free time this week, here are some things that I found interesting:

  • Create a Sleek, High-End Web Design from Scratch

This was a great article going step-by-step designing a website. I am really finding these design articles interesting since I am in the process of working on the next redesign for my site. There was also a partnering article, Build a Sleek Portfolio Site from Scratch that discussing the slicing of the site. Nothing ground breaking, but a nice step-by-step guide for a beginner.

  • The vanishing personal site

This is an interesting article discussing something that I have recently begun to see as well. Some people’s personal sites just have links to their accounts on the numerous social networking sites. The article even spurred an article from Six Apart: Hell no, personal sites aren’t dead!. I don’t believe that personal sites are dead, but I agree with Zeldman’s comment that they are vanishing.

  • Starting with CSS and bug fixing tips

This is a great resource for people just getting into web development. Veerle provides a bunch of links, recommended books, and strategies for fixing CSS bugs. Definitely will become a great starting point for a lot of people.
