My 2008 Web Thanksgiving List

Happy Thanksgiving to all! I thought I would take this opportunity to say what I am thankful for on the web. I am thankful for:

  • Jeffrey Zeldman and Eric Meyer (and others) They really helped to spearhead the Web Standards movement, and without them, I probably wouldn’t be in the field today.
  • Bulletproof Web Design This is one of the first web development books I had ever read, and it definitely helped to provide a strong foundation to build on. Thank god for Dan Cederholm’s brilliance.
  • Twitter What I first saw as a silly little web app, really has become a great networking tool. I can post a question and someone is always around to answer.
  • CSS Mastery I really took a big step forward in my ability after reading this book. Instead of just being a novice at CSS, I feel like I can tackle anything now.
  • Dean Edwards’ IE7 Script I can’t tell you how many times I have used it. While I have begun to use it less and less, it saved my life when slicing early in my career.
  • WordPress It really is a flexible CMS. I honestly try and suggest it for every single site I am creating.
  • jQuery I am in love with it. I knew some JavaScript before, but after easily learning jQuery, I feel much more comfortable writing JavaScript now.

So what are you thankful for?
